Prayer should be pursued with a courage that never fails…

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:14-15

Thoughts for you…

True prayer is not a selfish plea for comfort or blessing.  It’s a sacred communion with the Spirit of God, offered out of a life fully submitted to him. Our praying needs to be pressed and pursued with an energy that never tires, a persistency which will not be denied, and a courage that never fails…

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

Love is patient and kind…

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Thoughts for you…

God wants us to respond with calm acceptance to moments and seasons of waiting, while trusting in His sovereignty over every situation.  Though the delay may seem annoying and senseless, the Lord uses these times to mature us…

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind…”1 Corinthians 13:4

Joy gives us the ability to rise above our past, be content in our present, and look forward to our future…

GOD IS LOVE…

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 John 4:11

Thoughts for you…

Isn’t it interesting that the God Who has all ability, and all power, and all knowledge doesn’t say “God is brilliant” or “God is phenomenal”, or “God is a superhero”, rather He says, “GOD IS LOVE”…

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10

I am the way, the truth, and the life…

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

Thoughts for you…

The only way into rest from our burdens, enemies, and fears is the same “only way” John 14:6 says will lead to the Father: salvation through Jesus Christ. Trusting Him as Savior brings the comfort of permanent security – with our sin debt paid in full, we need never fear condemnation…

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

…that your joy might be full…

“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 15:10

Thoughts for you…

As our walk with God progresses, reliance on God increases and we will find ourselves less battered by life’s struggles…

“These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 15:11

Learning to trust…

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

Thoughts for you…

Learning to trust in the Lord is a little like learning to swim.  Certain facts about swimming and water help, but nothing takes the place of practice.  As a Christian, it is often when we find ourselves in deep, uncharted waters that we get this practice, for it is these deep-water experiences of life that force us to learn to trust completely in the Lord…

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Psalm 91:2

And all things are of God…

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14

 Thoughts for you…

While we have received forgiveness as a free blessing and an undeserved gift from God, it  is also the biggest challenge of our lives that God asks us to turn around offer this same forgiveness to others…

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation…” 2 Corinthians 5:18

Establish thou the work of our hands…

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

 Thoughts for you…

In striving for balance, we have a tendency to set our jobs in opposition to our non-work lives, making one the hapless victim and the other a villain.  But the truth is, all of life is one interdependent, integrated whole.  It is ordained by God, and its vitality depends on the harmony of all parts working together.  The degree to which we achieve a balanced life depends on the measure of our love for others in the home and the workplace, for we are called to both…

“Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” Psalm 90:17

 Thoughts for you…

We aren’t faithful to get a reward, but we are rewarded for being faithful…

“Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.” Deuteronomy 28:6
