Mt 23:11-12 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
The spanish ministry of New Heights Baptist Church had an amazing day on Sunday! They invited hundreds of people during the week and over 90 first-time guests showed up. 48 people trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior! 11 people were baptized! There were 269 people in the spanish services! It was a day of miracles. It was a rewarding day for Pastor Gomez, his family, and his people.
After a week like that everybody involved is usually pretty tired. Thousands of doors had been knocked. Lots of groceries had been given away. Smiles and hugs had been given. Sunday School lessons had been taught. People had given of themselves until they were exhausted. And nobody gives more on a busy day like this than the preacher’s wife.
I was humbled on Monday morning to see Mrs. Gomez, the spanish pastor’s wife, the first lady of the spanish ministry, the last person most churches might expect to see – mopping the floors of the church. With a joyful spirit just to be serving the Lord, she mopped every bit of tile in the foyer and kitchen areas.
What a refreshing sight to see such a humble servant of God that loves supporting her husband and serving her church. It’s no wonder that her children love serving God!
On Monday I saw a wonderful demonstration of a servant-hearted Christian who, instead of finding reasons not to do the most basic of jobs, did it with a smile on her face. We are blessed to have such a wonderful example demonstrated through the life of our spanish pastor’s wife!
Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
