In 2003 David Reyes moved his family to Albuquerque to start New Heights Baptist Church. After several weeks of passing out over 8,000 invitations the Grand Opening service was held in Chaparral Elementary School. After two years in the elementary school the church moved to a storefront, then three years later to the current location at Iliff Rd.
Pastor Reyes has been married to Jennifer for 24 years. They have four children from 10 years old to 20 years old.
Pastor Reyes grew up in Albuquerque. He was active in the community as a boy scout in Troop 85 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
As a ten-year-old boy, during a missions conference, Pastor Reyes felt God calling him to be a preacher. He attended Bible college and graduated with a teaching degree. He was hired as a Christian school teacher out of Bible college in Lewisville, Texas. While in Texas God put into his heart the desire to start a new church in Albuquerque.
God has blessed New Heights Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Reyes. He has a genuine heart to help people grow closer to Jesus.
